Participating artists in Local Artist Show 2023 are invited to join visiting artist Bruce Anderson for conversations about their artwork on display in the gallery.
As artists, it is incredibly valuable to have opportunities to speak about your art practice with peers and mentors, to share your goals, values, and the messages you want to communicate through your work. This is your chance to speak with a visiting artist and to explore these topics in a friendly and informal setting.
Sign up for an individual session or a group session, and take the opportunity to share what inspires you. Hear from other artists in our community, ask questions about the arts ecology across the province, and learn more about how to grow your practice.
Conversations About Your Art is free for anyone interested in participating, but requires a sign-up in advance. Please consult the times below, and contact the gallery to book your spot. Bookings are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis, so please get in touch with GDAG as soon as as possible to reserve a time.

Following the sessions, everyone is invited to GCAG’s Local Artist Show reception on Saturday, June 17, at 2:00pm. Join us to celebrate all of the local artists involved in this year’s Local Artist Show, and to hear remarks from visiting artist Bruce Anderson on his perspective as a professional artist working in the province.
BRUCE ANDERSON was born in Northern Alberta, where his father was an agricultural research scientist. Bruce has lived his adult life in Saskatchewan, where he has established a studio and full-time art practice after completing a Bachelor’s degree in History at the University of Saskatchewan and a Master of Fine Arts Degree at the University of Regina.
Since completing his MFA, Bruce has developed a body of work that reflects a childhood spent on agricultural research stations, an interest in the history of western Canada, and a love of images, materials and visual discourse. He has consistently exhibited in group and solo exhibitions, regionally and nationally; sold work to public and private collections; received professional artist grants; taught as an instructor in Visual Art at the University Regina; worked in various capacities in installation and collections at the MacKenzie Art Gallery; and maintained an ongoing presence in Regina’s arts community.
In 2022, Bruce had a solo exhibition of new work at the Nouveau Art Gallery in Regina (Weeds) prior to the current exhibition (Bruce Anderson: Colourblock) showing at the Chapel Gallery in North Battleford.
